By analyzing first hand data obtained from leading industrial product distributors in China (Covering 8200 valid online indirect material users or purchasers from 7110 firms in China) , it can be found that

Most of companies placing online orders are small or medium size firms (88%), because small or medium size firms are more likely to purchase directly without RFQ. Also, smaller firms are more willing to use suppliers eCommerce website to complete online transation because of lack of internal IT resource.

RFQ channels have direct links to Ordering channels. Big firms usually search product info online and make offline RFQ (Phone, Fax, Email) and then place offline orders (Phone, Fax, Email).

Big firms (especially multinational firms) tend to integrate their purchasing systme with reliable supplier info system (like eletronic catalog) to obtain real-time product info and streamline purchasing process.
The specific features including corporate and personal can be seen below:
Ownership Features: Mainly Private and Foreign firms, and increased online transaction adoption for foreign firms.
- Sector Features: Mostly Manufacturing (almost 70%), and then Distributor (about 10%)
- Size Features: Mainly less than 100 (about 60%), and increased online transaction adoption for small firms with employee less than 100 (from 54% to 66%).

Title Features: Mainly middle-level management (above 40%), then purchasing staff (about 30%), and increased online transaction adoption for purchasing staff.
